Deep-Fried Tofu Recipe

Ingredients :

Soft tofu

Spring onions

Minced ginger

Garlic

Salt

Flour

 

 

All purpose flour

Cornstarch

Egg

Water

Cooking oil

Baking powder

 

 

Tomato ketchup

Sugar

Vinegar

Sesame oil

Cornflour

Water

Method :
  • Cut the tofu into small equal squares and sprinkle salt evenly over each piece.

  • Mix ingredients A well into a batter.

  • Mix ingredients B well and set aside.

  • Mince the onions.

  • Remove stems from the garlic, pat with the flat side of a knife to remove skin and mince.

  • Coat each square tofu with flour and then dip in the batter.

  • Deep-fry the tofu in the hot oil until golden brown. Remove and drain.

  • To make the dip, keep 1 tablespoon oil in wok.

  • Stir-fry onions, ginger and garlic until fragrant.

  • Add mixed ingredients B and cook until thick.

  • Serve tofu with dip on the side.

Note : When coating tofu with batter, first dip in dry flour as this makes the batter stick to the tofu pieces.
