Sweet and Sour Pork Steaks Recipe

Ingredients : Serves 4

15 ml/1 tbsp oil
1 onion, chopped
100 g/4 oz mushrooms, sliced
30 ml/2 tbsp tomato puree (paste)

30 ml/2 tbsp demerara sugar
30 ml/2 tbsp lemon juice
30 ml/2 tbsp cider vinegar
30 ml/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

400 g/14 oz/1 large can of tomatoes, chopped
4 pork steaks
Green noodles, to serve

Method :

Heat half the oil in a frying pan (skillet) and fry (saute) the onion and mushrooms until soft but not browned. Stir in all the remaining ingredients except the remaining oil and the steaks, adding salt to taste. Bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Brush the steaks with the remaining oil and grill (broil) under a medium heat for 7 minutes on each side. Pour the sauce over the steaks and serve with green noodles.
