50 g/2 oz/0.25 cup butter or margarine
4 pork chops
1 onion, sliced
350 g/12 oz cooking (tart) apples, peeled, cored and sliced
450 ml/0.75 pt/2 cups dry cider
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Boiled rice, to serve

Method :
Melt the butter or margarine and fry (saute) the chops until browned, then
transfer them to a casserole dish (Dutch oven). Fry the onion and apples
until lightly browned, then spoon them into the casserole. Pour the cider
into the pan and season to taste. Bring to the boil, then pour over the
meat. Cover and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C/350°F/gas mark 4 for 50
minutes until the meat is tender. Serve with boiled rice. |
