Pork Chops Avesnoise Recipe

Ingredients : Serves 4

15 g/0.5 oz/1 tbsp butter or margarine

15 ml/1 tbsp olive oil
4 pork chops
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

100 g/4 oz/1 cup Gruyere (Swiss) cheese, grated
10 ml/2 tsp Dijon mustard
150 ml/0.25 pt single (light) cream

1 garlic clove, crushed
Crisp green salad, to serve

Method :

Melt the butter or margarine with the oil and fry (saute) the chops until browned on both sides. Season to taste, transfer to a shallow casserole dish (Dutch oven) and bake in a preheated oven at 180C/350F/gas mark 4 for 45 minutes until tender. Mix together the remaining ingredients and spread over the top of the chops. Return the chops to the oven for a further 10 minutes until the topping is golden. Serve with a crisp green salad.
