Minced Pork and Potato Pie Recipe

Ingredients : Serves 4

450 g/1 lb minced (ground) pork
1 onion, chopped
400 g/14 oz/1 large can of baked beans

5 ml/1 tsp dried mixed herbs
450 g/1 lb boiled potatoes
50 g/2 oz/0.25 cup butter or margarine

30 ml/2 tbsp milk
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method :

Heat the mince gently in a saucepan until the fat begins to run, then increase the heat and fry (saute) until browned. Drain off any excess fat, add the onion and fry until soft. Stir in the beans and herbs, then transfer to a shallow ovenproof dish. Mash the potatoes with half the butter or margarine and the milk and season to taste. Top the pork mixture with the potato, fluff up with a fork and dot with the remaining butter or margarine. Bake in a preheated oven at 180C/350F/gas mark 4 for 45 minutes until golden brown and crispy on top.
