Rotis Recipe

Serve with curries and sambals, Rotis is a popular breakfast dish in Sri Lanka. It is similar to the Indian flat breads.

Ingredients : Serves 6

2 cups roti flour or rice flour

1/2 cup desiccated coconut

Salt to taste

1 cup water

Ghee

 

Method

Use a mixing bowl and mix the flour, coconut and salt. Add just enough water to for a soft dough. Knead the dough until it forms a ball, and not sticking to the bowl. Set aside the dough to rest for about 30 minutes. Use your hands to shape the dough into balls, the size of a golf ball. Flattened them to for a circle the size of a saucer. Heat up a griddle and cook the flattened dough, lightly greased with the ghee. Best to serve hot.
