Vegetable Curry Recipe

(Sayur Masak Lemak)

Ingredients : Serves 6 as an accompaniment

Onion, finely sliced

Garlic, finely chopped

Fresh red or green chilies, seeded and sliced

Dried shrimp paste (belacan)

Ground turmeric

Thin coconut milk

Large potato, peeled and diced

Coarsely shredded cabbage


Thick coconut milk

Lemon juice to taste

Method :
  • Put the onion, garlic, chilies, belacan, turmeric and thin coconut milk into a saucepan and bring to simmering point.

  • Add potato and cook for 10 minutes or until potato is half cooked.

  • Add cabbage and salt, cook for 3 minutes.

  • Then add the thick coconut milk and stir gently until cabbage is cooked.

  • Remove from heat and add lemon juice to taste.
