Siyow Chicken Recipe

Ingredients :

Whole chicken, cut into bite size

Young ginger, sliced

Dried chilies, cubed

Fresh basil leaves

Soy sauce

Fish sauce

Thick soy sauce


Sesame oil

Chinese cooking wine


Cornflour mixture

Method :
  • Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a wok.

  • Stir fry the ginger and dried chilies until fragrant.

  • Add chicken and stir fry thoroughly.

  • Pour in soy sauce, fish sauce, thick soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, cooking wine and water.

  • Cover the lid and cook for 10 minutes.

  • Stir in cornflour mixture and basil leaves.

  • Serve hot.

Note : Chicken meat is well done when it shrinks and detaches from the chicken bone.
