2 onions, chopped
175 g/6 oz/1.5 cups strong cheese, grated
15 ml/1 tbsp chopped parsley
30 ml/2 tbsp mustard pickle
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
400 g/14 oz Shortcrust Pastry
1 egg, beaten
15 ml/1 tbsp sesame seeds

Method :
Mix together the onions, cheese, parsley and pickle and season to taste.
Roll out the pastry (paste) on a lightly floured surface to a large
rectangle. Spread the filling over the pastry to within 1 cm/0.5 in of the
edge, then roll up like a Swiss (jelly) roll and make cuts along the roll
to three-quarters of the width. Shape into a ring and seal the ends with
egg. Place on a greased baking (cookie) sheet, brush with the egg and
sprinkle with the sesame seeds. Bake in a preheated oven at
200°C/400°F/gas mark 6 for 30 minutes. |
