A favorite recipe because it is so easy and the flavor
so special - it can also be prepared a day ahead. When required, grill the
spareribs a few minutes on each side, just to heat through. The best way
to enjoy spareribs is to pick them up with the fingers.

Pork spareribs
Garlic
Salt
Ground black pepper
Five spice powder
Honey
Sesame oil
Light soy sauce
Hot water
Plum sauce
Method :
Separate
spareribs with a sharp knife or ask the butcher to do it for you.
Crush garlic
with salt, combine with pepper, five spice powder, honey, sesame oil and
soy sauce.
Rub well into
spareribs.
Put them in a
roasting pan and cook in a moderate oven.
After 30
minutes, turn spareribs, add hot water to pan and continue roasting,
basting with the liquid every 10 minutes, for a further 30 minutes.
Alternatively, heat 1-2 tablespoons peanut oil in a large heavy frying
pan and brown spareribs.
Add water,
cover and simmer for 30-35 minutes or until tender.
