Fried Fish with Salted Soy Beans Recipe

(Ikan Goreng Tauceo)

Ingredients : Serves 4

Fish steaks

Onions, finely sliced

Garlic, finely chopped

Finely grated fresh ginger

Salted soy bean paste

Fresh red chilies, sliced

Light soy sauce

Water

Oil for frying

Lemon juice to taste

Method :
  • Wash and wipe fish steaks.

  • Fry in enough oil to cover base of pan until golden brown on one side.

  • Then turn and fry the other side.

  • Drain on absorbent paper.

  • Pour off all but 2 tablespoons oil from pan and fry onions until soft and transparent.

  • Add garlic and ginger and fry until golden brown.

  • Add salted soy bean paste and fry for 1 minute, then add chilies, soy sauce and water.

  • Allow to simmer until gravy thickens slightly, then add fish and cook for 5 minutes, turning slices halfway through.

  • Add lemon juice to taste and serve with white rice.
