Slice the beef thinly and combine with the
sweet soy sauce. Mix thoroughly and set aside. Heat a wok wit margarine
and gently fry the shallots until golden brown. Add the ground spice,
salam leaf, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and mace. Fry until the ingredients
are fragrant. Add the beef with sweet soy sauce. When the ingredients
are cooked, add water to cover the beef. Cook until the meat is tender
and the gravy has thickened. Add chopped tomato and serve while still
hot with a sprinkle of fried shallots.
