Barbecued Bangers Recipe

Ingredients : Serves 4

2 onions
200 g/7 oz/1 small can of tomatoes, chopped
75 ml/5 tbsp dry cider
45 ml/3 tbsp tomato ketchup (catsup)

15 ml/1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 bay leaf
1 garlic clove, chopped
3 celery sticks, finely chopped
5 ml/1 tsp lemon juice
30 ml/2 tbsp Muscovado sugar
300 ml/0.5 pt/1.25 cups water
450 g/1 lb pork sausages

Method :

Chop one onion and cut the other into wedges. Mix together the chopped onion and all the remaining ingredients except the sausages and onion wedges, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Grill (broil) the sausages and onion wedges under a hot grill (broiler), turning frequently, until cooked through and golden brown. Discard the bay leaf and serve the hot sauce with the sausages.
