Toffee Bananas Recipe

Ingredients :

4 riped bananas

1 egg

2 tablespoons plain flour

4 tablespoons sugar

1 tablespoon cold water

Oil for deep-frying


Method :

Peel and slit the bananas in half lengthways. Cut each half into two crosswise. Beat the egg, mix in the plain flour to make a smooth batter. Heat up a wok with oil. Coat each piece of banana with the batter and deep fry until golden. Remove and drain. Pour off all the oil except 1 tablespoon in the wok. Add the water and sugar. Stir over a moderate heat until sugar is well dissolved. Continue stirring until the sugar has caramelized. Add in the hot banana pieces. Coat well and remove. Dip the hot bananas in cold water to harden the toffee and serve.
