Honey Sponge Cake Recipe

Ingredients :

Plain flour

Custard powder

Baking powder

Bicarbonate of soda

Salt

Margarine

Soft brown sugar

Corn oil

Eggs

Honey

Vanilla essence

Melon seeds

Method :
  1. Sift the flour and custard powder into a mixing bowl.
  2. Stir in the baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and salt.
  3. In a mixer bowl, ream margarine, sugar and corn oil until light and creamy.
  4. Beat in eggs, one at a time.
  5. Stir in honey and essence.
  6. Add in sifted flour mixture to blend into a  smooth batter.
  7. Line a 20 cm diameter deep bamboo basket with greased greaseproof paper.
  8. Pour batter into prepared basket and sprinkle over some melon seeds,
  9. Steam over rapidly boiling water for 45 minutes.
