Fried Custard Recipe

Ingredients :

Sesame seeds

Powdered sugar

Flour

Granulated sugar

Water

Eggs, beaten

Vanilla

Cornstarch

Cooking oil

Method :
  1. Toast the sesame seeds in a dry pan until light brown.
  2. Cool and mix with powdered sugar. Set aside.
  3. Mix flour with granulated sugar in a bowl and stri in 1/2 cup of water.
  4. Add beaten eggs and mix until smooth.
  5. Pour 1 cup of water into saucepan and bring to boil.
  6. Add flour mixture and stir vigorously over moderate heat until it thickens.
  7. Add vanilla and stir well.
  8. Pour mixture into greased 8 inch square dish.
  9. Pat with hand to 1/2 inch thickness.
  10. Cool in refrigerator.
  11. Cut in strips 1 1/2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide.
  12. Dredge strips with cornstarch.
  13. Heat oil to moderately hot and fry the strips a few at a time for 3 minutes or until light brown.
  14. Lift out with strainer as soon as they get brown.
  15. Remove to serving plate.
  16. Sprinkle with sesame seed mixture.
  17. Serve hot.
