Beef Burgers Recipe

Ingredients : Serves 4

450 g/1 lb minced (ground) beef

100 g/4 oz/2 cups fresh breadcrumbs

1 onion, finely chopped
10 ml/2 tsp dried mixed herbs
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

1 egg, beaten
30 ml/2 tbsp oil
4 baps or other large soft rolls

4 lettuce leaves
60 ml/4 tbsp cucumber relish

4 gherkins (comichons), sliced

Chips (fries), to serve

Method :

Mix together the beef, breadcrumbs, onion and herbs and season to taste. Bind with the egg and shape into burgers. Heat the oil and fry (saute) the burgers until cooked through and browned on both sides. Split the rolls and put the lettuce leaves on the bottom halves. Place the burgers on top and cover with the cucumber relish and gherkins, or other pickles of your choice. Top with the other half of the roll and serve with chips.
